EPISODE 9
The episode starts
off with a childhood flashback of a young Chandni and Dev. Both are on the
rooftop and are about to release a lantern into the sky. Dev let's Chandni know
that whenever she releases a lantern, his will always be right next to her no
matter where he is as they are inseparable. As kids, their friendship is strong
but unfortunately not all is the same anymore. Back in present day, Chandni
releases another lantern in Dev's name, again wondering where her childhood
friend could be. Back at his residence, Advay is staring at the moon until he
sees the lantern in the sky and is reminded of his childhood. Angry, he throws
an object at the lantern, destroying it, and stating that him and Chandni can
never be one as she is nothing but a mirage.

As Murli offers the
widows, Chandni tells Advay that he must do it himself in order for it to be
called a "donation"; otherwise getting someone else to do it on his
behalf would be considered offering to the poor. Using this as an opportunity,
Advay asks Chandni to hold a tray of silver coins as he hands them out himself.
His hand then graces hers and she's suddenly taken aback. As she tries to walk
away, he grabs her hand and pulls him towards her.
Upstairs, Indrani,
Shagun and Kajal are interrogating Gangaram, a guest who has come by. Thinking
he's the blackmailer, they try to find out exactly what he wants, since he said
that he's come to settle an "old score". They soon find out that old
score is an old bill payment. Gangaram is not the blackmailer but could that
person still be downstairs. As Meghan returns to the kitchen, she finds Advay
holding Chandni close to him. When she inquires as to what's going on, he
complains that everyone there is always making a big deal of him protecting
Chandni, as he points towards broken glass on the floor that she could have
stepped on. As Chandni apologizes to him, he lets her know that he might have
saved her today, but to him she is not worth saving.
