Episode Review: August 30th, 2012

Arnav is flirting with Khushi when NK drops in.  He tells her to thank him for bringing Arnav to the function but she says she will only thank him when Arnav dances and puts a bit a mehendi on.  Arnav says no way and leaves, leaving Khushi upset.  Buaji tries to get NK to put mehendi on and talk about his marriage but he successfully escapes from her.  Mamiji tries to get Dadi to meet Garima but it still doesn't work as the dance begins.  Everyone begins dancing as Khushi tries to look for Arnav who is standing at the side.  He notices her blouse string is loose and motions her to come with him. 

He goes to take her hand but she shows him that she has mehendi on, so he grabs her waist and pulls her close to him.  He turns her around and tightens the blouse string, making Khushi realize why he called her over.  He then attempts to kiss her but she walks away.  When she turns around, he shows her that he applied a small drop of mehendi on his hand and the two share a hug.  She rejoins the dance and NK and Akash drag him onto the stage to join in on the dance as well.  Mamiji again attempts to have Garima and Dadi meet.  Everyone is enjoying the celebrations, dancing; even the entire family who is pleased to see Arnav dancing as well.  Arnav ends up bumping into Shyam and just as he turns around, the lights go out, sending the entire house into darkness with no one able to see anything.  Dadi and Garima meet in the dark, with Garima apologizing for not being present in the earlier functions.  Shyam is able to escape and takes Anjali's shoes with him.  As Akash checks on the light, Arnav checks to make sure Anjali and Khushi are alright.  Just as the light reappears, Garima vanishes from Dadi's site and everyone is okay.  Anjali still looks worried but reassures Arnav that she's okay.  The celebrations resume and Khushi and NK successfully get Arnav to rejoin the dance.  Anjali calls up Shyam who informs her that he will have to leave as things are getting to close. 

Anjali tries to call Shyam again but he is not picking up.  Anjali sees that her shoe is missing and goes to look for it while upstairs, Shyam hides her shoe underneath the bed, trying to think of a way to get her to come into the room.  Shyam sees that Anjali is by the poolside, making it his plan much easier.  He turns on a light and stands behind the closed curtains.  Anjali sees a shadow by her room and thinks that Shyam may be in her room, so she goes to check.

Highlight: Anjali turning off the lights to protect Shyam from being seen.

Episode Review: August 29th, 2012

Nani pleads with both Arnav and Dadi to not fight as the baby shower is taking place.  They both agree and decide to have their conversation elsewhere.  Seeing how everyone is so happy, Garima decides to go and meet Dadi alone and gets up to find her.  Dadi and Arnav continue to argue about bringing Shyam back, with Arnav hellbent on making sure he does not return.  Dadi states that he is the father of the child and Anjali's husband which means he has to be here but Arnav does not care.  He tells Dadi that it took a long time to forget what happened 14 years ago and now that it has happened with Anjali, he won't let anyone ruin their happiness.  Nani pleads with the two of them to stop their arguing and they agree, with Dadi leaving. 

Nani and Arnav have a heart to heart where she tells him to be happy at being a Mama and the fact that he is getting married.  Garima overhears this entire conversation and decides not to say anything as everyone is happy and has moved on with their lives.  Shyam is outside trying to find a way in but realizes that the security guards are checking everyone's ID's.  He decides to sneak into the house, dressed as part of a music group, to avoid being searched.  The preparations for the mehendi ceremony begin as Shyam enters the house.  Arnav, NK and Akash all come downstairs and Nani allows them to join in on ceremony.  Shyam quietly sneaks upstairs to Anjali's room where he retrieves the box he hid earlier.  He sprinkles broken glass on the carpet, completing his plan.  Garima gets scared after almost being seen by Dadi so she decides to leave but is stopped by Buaji who tells her to join the celebrations.  As the mehendi ceremony starts, Shyam approaches Anjali, who is sitting on a couch, and drops a box before quickly leaving.

She calls out to the person who dropped the box but then opens it to find a necklace.  She recognizes one of the music players as Shyam and is happy.  Khushi is getting her mehendi done when the women asks her what her husband's name is.  Before she can answer, Arnav tells the women to write in LG for Laad Governor.  She tells the women to write in A and Arnav chimes in by saying that her name has an A in it too.  The two remember the last mehendi ceremony and both state that they have already completed this ritual too.  They then both stare and smile at each other.

What worked: Arnav's statement about moving on from the past instead of dwelling on it.  This is one of the rare times we get to see the vulnerable and emotional sides of Arnav Singh Raizada.  As the audience, we don't know exactly what happened 14 years ago but we do know that it was a very tragic and life altering event that transformed Arnav into Arnav Singh Raizada.  For the first time, Arnav is happy in his life; he is going to be a Mama, his sister has never looked happier and he is getting married to the love of his life.  The fact that Dadi wants to ruin this happiness of his by bringing back Shyam makes Arnav more protective of his loved ones.  He knows that Dadi wants Shyam back in the house and will now be extra vigilant around Dadi, to make sure she doesn't do anything to bring Shyam back.

What didn't work: N/A

Highlight:  Write LG for Laad Governor instead of A for Arnav.  Again, we have the entrance of naughty Arnav who enjoys teasing his wife.  Even though Arnav hated the name at first, a part of him now enjoys being called her Laad Governor.  The writers are doing a good job in portraying the rituals (even though they are going a bit too fast), especially when Arnav and Khushi recall these same rituals in the past, realizing that they've already completed them.  Even though the episode did not have much of Arnav and Khushi interacting, small sweet moments like this really show us how simple and unique of a couple they really are.

Episode Review: August 28th, 2012

Shyam is seen doing something with the electrical wires before attaching them to the box.  As the electricians are putting up the lights, NK notices a weird red wire and asks Arnav what type of wire it is.  Arnav too is suspicious of the unknown wire and he begins to unravel its path to see where its coming from.  Shyam arrives there and notices what Arnav is doing.  He remembers that the wire is connected to the hidden camera so he quickly climbs onto a ladder and disconnects the camera from the wire just in time.  At the Gupta house, Garima seems worried but Buaji tells her not to worry as everything will be okay.  Garima decides to finally meet Dadi for the sake and Payal and Khushi's happiness.

Shyam begins to work on something near the staircase, avoiding Arnav, as he talks to the electricians about the wiring.  When Shyam disappears, Arnav tries to locate the electrician he saw there.  Shyam enters Anjali's room and hides a box underneath her bed, leaving just before Arnav arrives.  When he enters, Arnav asks Anjali if anyone had come into her room and makes a call to have all the electrician's Ids checked, just for safety.  As he leaves, Anjali wishes that Shyam could have been present today.  Garima, Buaji and Khushi arrive at the Raizada mansion.  Garima requests to meet Dadi and Mamiji leads them towards her.  Khushi on the other hand is looking for Arnav but can't find him.  As NK takes Arnav upstairs, he suddenly stops as he senses Khushi.  When he turns around, the two end up seeing each other.  When NK asks how he knew Khushi had come, she says that they just know.  Arnav then begins to tease her by saying there is something on her face but soon realizes he was just playing with her.  She then joins Garima and Buaji as they go meet Dadi who is seating Anjali for the baby shower.  Before they can meet her, Dadi leaves from there, giving Garima a sigh of relief.  Payal too tries to get Garima to meet Dadi but the same outcome also occurs so they decide to meet her after.  Upstairs, NK plans a movie for him, Akash and Arnav to watch as the ladies function occurs downstairs.  Bored, Arnav calls up Khushi and again begins to tease her about her nose and how to hang up the phone.  She decides to take the opportunity to get even with him and hands the phone to Buaji.  Arnav hands his phone to NK, saying it's a girl who wants to talk to him, but informs Akash that it's Buaji.  NK and Buaji attempt to have a weird conversation and NK realizes who he is talking to.

Anjali's baby shower begins, with the women presenting her with gifts and wishing her the best.  One of the women ask her about her husband and how he hasn't crashed her baby shower yet.  On hearing this, Anjali begins to look upset while the rest of the family look tense.  Khushi goes to get Anjali water and Dadi tells Nani that they should bring Shyam back right now as it will put an end to everyone's gossip.  At that time, Arnav comes downstairs and tells Dadi that Shyam will never return to the house.

What worked: The pace of the episode.  Over the past two weeks, Arnav and Khushi's remarriage seems to be going a little too fast, compared to how they dragged their contract wedding for so long.  Today's episode finally slowed things down and gave us a little bit of everything; comedy, drama, romance and suspense.  This pace works as it allows for us to get a better picture of what is going on and allows for the stories to be fully told, with much better depth and detail.  The current tracks should continue to go at this pace as it will keep the story going much stronger then if things sped up.

What didn't work: N/A

Highlight:  Arnav's phone prank on NK.  The bromance between NK-Akash-Arnav is absolutely amazing.  The three of them work so well on screen together; with NK being so out there, Akash being more composed and Arnav being more witty and uptight.  Karen, Akshay and Barun share a great rapport off screen and that can visibly be seen on screen.  The best part was how Arnav handed NK the phone and then casually sat down to watch the entertainment unfold.  Who said Arnav Singh Raizada doesn't know how to pull a prank.

Episode Review: August 27th, 2012

Arnav arrives at the restaurant and Khushi arrives right behind him, dressed in black leaving him speechless.  She informs the waiter about her reservation but is then told that she came a day too early.  Arnav suggest they go somewhere else but instead, she sweet talks the waiter into giving them a table.  Arnav pulls out a chair for her but instead of sitting on it, she pulls out a chair for him.  She then attempts to order off the menu, as Arnav asks her what she is doing.  Just then, Shyam and Anjali too enter the restaurant and make their way to their table, almost being seen by Arnav and Khushi.

Khushi tells Arnav that she is being him, since he is being her; by abiding by the marriage traditions, going to the temple, etc.  After they receive their order, Khushi takes a bite and does not like what she tasted.  She ends up saying that she placed a wrong order but Arnav fixes it by adding salt.  He again asks her what she is doing and she states that she wanted to do something for him as he has been doing so many things for her.  He then calls over a waiter, who hands them two glasses of wine.  He asks her to drink the wine, using her KKGSR tone, and she hesitantly takes a sip.  Realizing she likes it, she gulps it down and gets the waiter to refill her cup.  She then finds out it wasn't wine but a non-alcoholic drink.  Arnav tells her that he would never make her do anything that she didn't want to and that he loves her for who she is and that she should not change.  She is happy hearing this and has one more surprise for him.  A champaign bottle is brought and she attempts to open the bottle.  Unfortunately, the cork hits another diner, breaking their glasses.  Seeing her upset, Arnav cheers her up by imitating her to explain what she was trying to do all evening and what actually happened.  It ends up cheering her up and the two enjoy the rest of their evening.  Shyam hands Anjali a present for their baby and she is happy to see that it is a small bangle.  When it drops on the floor, Shyam goes to pick it up and notices Arnav and Khushi at the same restaurant.

Shyam hides behind the table as Arnav and Khushi leave the restaurant.  He informs Anjali about the two being here and she two turns her back so they don't see her.  Shyam waits until the coast is clear before returning to his seat and calms a very nervous Anjali down.  He reassures her they didn't see them and promises to be at the baby shower tomorrow.  The next day, NK instructs the electricians to decorate the house with more lights.  One of the electrician asks another one where the other lights are and he points to a pile.  It is then revealed that this person is Shyam.

What didn't work: N/A

Highlight: Arnav and Khushi's date.  Arnav and Khushi's first date follows the pattern of everything else that has occurred since they met; nothing going right.  From her working for him to their Nanital trip to their multiple interrupted kisses, nothing seems to go the way it's plan, and this date is no less.  From the reservation to ordering the food to the champaign bottle, nothing went as plan for Khushi but it sure brought a smile to Arnav's face.  Their first date compliments them perfectly, odd and strange with nothing going right but cute and sweet and very enjoyable to watch.  During their date, Arnav pointed out to Khushi that he loves her for the way she is; strange, odd and very talkative.  A highlight within their date has to be when he imitates her to cheer her up.  It was absolutely cute adorable.  Arnav has really loosen up since we first met him and if anyone told him he'd be making jokes like this, he'd think you we're trying to make jokes.
